Birmingham National Dog Show – 10th – 13th May 2018

Schedules for The National Dog Show to be held from 10th – 13th May 2018 are now available on line at www.dog.biz. They can also be obtained from the Secretary, Jennie Griffiths who can be contacted by telephone on 01694 751258 or by e-mail (secretary@thenationaldogshow.org.uk) and will be available from the Our Dogs stand at Midland Counties.

On line entries can be made up to 12 noon on Thursday 29th March 2018

Entry fees remain unchanged and have not been increased for the last seven years and no charge is made for car parking. The entry fee for Not for Competition has been reduced to £10 and dogs from 4 calendar months of age can be entered Nor for Competition.

There is generous prize money for all stake classes and the Society also offer prize money for the YKC Members Stakes and YKC Handling classes. Burns Pet Nutrition have also agreed to offer product prizes for the YKC Handling and YKC Members Stake classes.

Royal Canin have agreed to provide product vouchers for all group placings and Best in Show winners, including the Puppy and Veteran Groups and BIS Puppies and Veterans.

At least 6 classes are scheduled for all non CC breeds. All breeds recognised by the Kennel Club are scheduled.

PetPlanet have agreed to sponsor all best puppy in breed rosettes at the 2018 Show.

Adult Handling Classes are scheduled again in 2018. There will be 4 classes each day from 17-30 years; 30 – 45 years; 45 – 60 years and 60+ years. The first three in each class will qualify for a final to be held later in the year.

Puppies from 4 months of age may be entered not for competition.

Dogs in the ownership or joint ownership of Officers and Committee, or dogs in the ownership of anyone residing at an Officer or Committee Member’s address will not be exhibited at this show.

Daily sessions, “An introduction to Dog Showing” will be held each afternoon for new exhibitors or those considering buying and showing a pedigree dog. These sessions are free of charge and anyone interested in taking part and learning more about showing a dog should report to the Secretary’s office by 1.15pm each day.

There will not be an unentered dog tent at the 2018 how. No unentered dog passes will be issued.

Spectator Dogs from 4 months of age may be bought into the show. On arrival they should report to the Catalogue table in the morning or Secretary’s Office in the afternoon. A brief form must be completed and a fee of £5 paid. Passes will be issued for Spectator Dogs as all passes will be checked on leaving the show ground. No dog will be checked out of the showground without an appropriate pass.

The Midland Border Collie Club Championship Show will be held back to back with Birmingham National Dog Show and will be held on Saturday 12th May with breed judging at Birmingham National on Sunday 13th May.

The Irish Water Spaniel Association will, once again, hold their open show and Birmingham National on Saturday 12th May.

Once again a free prize draw for exhibitors will be held each day with generous prizes.

Free tea, coffee and cakes will once again be served around the Best in Show ring every evening when group judging is taking place.

The Young Kennel Club are organising a YKC event on the Saturday and Sunday and details are shown in the schedule.

The Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme Bronze Award testing will be carried out each day.

The Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme Stakes are also scheduled with prize money donated by the Kennel Club.

Christina Chapman will be holding training sessions each day and details are shown in the schedule.

Once again John Goodyear BVMS, MRCVS, CertVOphtal, the Show Veterinary Surgeon, will be offering Eye Testing Sessions each day.
